The Powerhouse Science Center is one of the Sacramento region's premier institutions with an emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education and hands-on learning. Our interactive exhibits and activities help kids in K-6th grades realize how science, engineering, technology and society are all interconnected.
Powerhouse Science Center was originally founded in 1951 as the California Junior Museum and designed as a space where children could experience science and nature through engaging programs and exhibits. We've operated for 65 years as a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, supplying informal science education for 19 counties in the greater Sacramento area.
