All aboard the California State Railroad Museum’s popular excursion railroad — the Sacramento Southern Railroad. 2018 marks the 35th consecutive season the excursion trains have been operating in Old Sacramento. Train rides include closed coach cars, open-air gondolas and a first-class observation car pulled by either Granite Rock No. 10 steam locomotive or one of our vintage diesel locomotives from the Museum’s collection.

5th annual Lunar Lunacy Ride

Join Us for the 5th annual Lunar Lunacy Ride. This fun ride is a signature Sacramento event benefiting local foster youth via CASA Sacramento's Making Memories program. Ride your bike under the moonlight on a 6-mile closed course through Downtown Sacramento. Light up your bike, wear a costume and bring the fun with you! 

Festival — Enjoy the pre & post ride festival including live music, food trucks, bounce house, vendor booths, beer garden by Lost Coast Brewing, “Best Lit-Up Bike” and “Best Team” contests, giant jenga and teeter totter, bike rodeo, face painting, bowling alley and more!

Course — 6-mile fully closed course. Sights along the ride include the Capitol, Sacramento River, Old Sac, Raley Field, Crocker Art Museum, the Railyards and Golden 1 Center.

Teams — You can create a new team or join an existing team. Teams must have a minimum of 4 riders and the cost is $35/rider. As part of being a team, each member will receive a custom t-shirt with team name and can compete in the “Best Team” contest the night of the ride.

Light Up Swag — Lights for your bike will be available for purchase at the pre-ride festival and/or at Packet Pickup @ REI the day before the ride.

Auditions for ages 8 (with experience) through adult. Younger children will be considered at the Director’s discretion. Please prepare 1-1 1/2minute (16-32 bars) Song Selection from a musical. We have an accompanist for the 20th but not the 23rd. If you’re using sheet music, please come on the 20th. Otherwise - we can look up and play any accompaniment from YouTube. We are Bluetooth capable. Or you can bring a CD properly edited for your cut.

These hydrogen alpha scopes allow you to see the sun directly, showing spots and prominences. Positive Energy 5K and Kids Triathlon

The Positive Energy Kids Triathlon incorporates exercise into a fun event. Participation, a positive experience and a sense of accomplishment are what our young athletes walk away with after the event. At this event, our goal is for every finisher to feel a sense of triumph when they cross the finish line. No experience is needed! 

The kids triathlon will be held in conjunction with a 5K Run/Walk, which will be held first at 7:45 a.m. This 3.1 mile event is open to all ages, and entry to this event includes a tshirt, finisher medal and eligibility for age group awards. If you’re up to the challenge to taking on both events, be sure to register for both in the same transaction as that will deduct $5.00 from your entry fee. Read more about the 5K Run/Walk here.

Late Registration will be accepted at Packet Pick Up (2:30-5:30PM, June 23 at Arroyo Pool) and Race Morning starting at 7:00 AM (Arroyo Pool).

Join an afternoon of painting fun for everyone! This special Paint Nite experience led by a local artist is open to painters ages 6 and up. All painting supplies and instruction are included, and the restaurant will have food and drinks available for purchase if you want to add some treats on to your experience.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME!!  TeamNorCal and the River Cats have joined forces again for the new season and are bringing you more fun than ever!!  Paint, purchase food and drink from the concession, and enjoy the game afterward at the River Cats Stadium. Additionally, enjoy themed fireworks shows after every Saturday game. 

If you missed last year's Paint Nite/Ballgame events, now's your chance. Each ticket purchased includes the price of entry to your Paint Nite event AND your ticket to the game. No food or drink is included in the ticket purchase, but the concession stands open early just for us.
