Join the Sacramento Zoo as we throw a party for the planet including a Stuffed Animal Clinic! Learn about the environment and conservation both locally and globally and how you can have an impact on the world around you right from home!

Enjoy face painting, crafts, hands-on activities and games all focused on the planet we call home. Get the scoop on some of the zoo’s animals and how to make the world a better place for them through keeper chats and wildlife stage shows and be sure to visit the zoo’s backyard to learn about native plants and explore the garden.

A portion of all admission tickets and all proceeds from the carousel on Earth Fest will go towards the zoo’s conservation projects which you can learn more about at the event.

Although our public open days are normally on the second Saturday of the month, for April, we will be celebrating Earth Day, so the Koobs Nature Area will be open to the public on Saturday, April 21st, from 10am-2pm. This is a wonderful event in the Koobs Nature Area. Multiple organizations come out - such as Sacramento Audubon, Boy Scout Troop 55, Girl Scout Troop 3191, and more - and have tables with information and activities for kids and adults. Because this is our Earth Day celebration, we will also have some snacks. 

This wonderful natural treasure in the heart of Carmichael is run and maintained by the Kiwanis Club of Carmichael and is free to the public.

The Sacramento River Cats will host Military Family Picnic, presented by Wells Fargo, on Sunday, April 22 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Raley Field. This free event is open to all military families (active duty or not) as a way for the Sacramento-area community to show appreciation to those who serve. It's an exclusive opportunity for military families to enjoy a fun picnic at Raley Field. Families will enjoy a variety of activities around Raley Field including inflatable structures, arts and crafts, and catch in the outfield. A petting zoo, face painters, and a balloon artist will also be available. There will be no baseball game on this date.

Calling all dreamers, shakers, fighters, and changemakers! Waking the Village is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting our first ever Festival of Changemakers on April 29, 2018 and YOU are invited to participate!

What is the Festival of Changemakers? The daylong festival is targeted toward girls (9 ~16 year olds) and will feature workshops, performances, and breakouts all themed on finding one's inner strength and helming that to tackle social justice issues. Workshops, performances, and events will all take place at Camp Pollock right on the river! In addition to Art Beast Children's Studio and The Creation DistrictSol Collective and Girls Rock Sacramento will be leading workshops.
