Sacramento—A tradition since 1947, the 2017 Sacramento Armenian Food Festival returns by popular demand Saturday, October 21, 2017, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the new Greek Hellinic Center & Hall, 614 Alhambra, Sacramento. St. James Armenian Church presents a day celebrating traditional Armenian foods music, dancing and culture. “This is the 70th anniversary of the Armenian Food Fest. The whole community is invited to enjoy Armenian hospitality. Whether your grandparents are from Armenia or you are an Armenian-at-heart, we promise a day of fun and food for the whole family,” said Rev. Father Yegishe Ksachikyan (Yeg-ee-sheh Ka-sach-ek-yan), St. James Armenian Church priest. “We expect 2,000 guests from the Sacramento region.” The event features foods from the Byzantine era including lamb shish kebab, lamb shanks, cheese boureg, lamajoohn (Armenian pizza), kufteh (meatballs), filo desserts and much more. Entertainment includes duduk performance, children’s choir, dance performances and dance lessons, vocal soloists and DJArmen. Enjoy shopping at the St. James boutique with Armenian imports and local made items as well as to-go bakery goods.
