All aboard the California State Railroad Museum’s popular excursion railroad — the Sacramento Southern Railroad. 2018 marks the 35th consecutive season the excursion trains have been operating in Old Sacramento. Train rides include closed coach cars, open-air gondolas and a first-class observation car pulled by either Granite Rock No. 10 steam locomotive or one of our vintage diesel locomotives from the Museum’s collection.

The ACE Academy provides unique education programs for middle and high school students interested in aviation and aerospace.
This weeklong summer immersion offers students a wide range of aviation career exploration focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

  • Open to Sacramento-area students aged 13-18.
  • Must complete the ACE Academy selection process by submitting a complete application, one (1) page essay, and one (1) letter of recommendation.
  • All applications require a $20 (non-refundable) processing fee.
  • Lunches, field trips, a T-shirt, and informational binder are provided.

Solve a mystery using only science tools to investigate the crime scene! Camp detectives are introduced to crime scene investigation techniques including finger print analysis, spatter tests using simulated blood, chromatography, microscopes to study written documents, chemical analysis to identify unknown substances, and fabric flammability testing. Campers develop investigative questioning skills and perform experiments to crack the case.

When teaching children to brush, place a soft bristle brush at a 45 degree angle along the gum line. Then move the brush in a gentle circular motion. Brush the outer surfaces of each tooth, upper and lower. Repeat the same method on the inside surfaces and chewing surfaces of all the teeth. Finish by brushing the tongue to help freshen breath and remove bacteria.
